Lawyers for Climate Action Year-End Appeal
Donate now - and your gift will be matched today.
Thanks to generous donors, for the first time ever, the first $2,000 in all year-end donations to Lawyers for Climate Action New Zealand will be doubled starting Tuesday 10 December until Christmas. That means if you give $50 it will be matched and become $100 - supercharging our legal fight for more effective climate action. And as a registered charity, all donations are tax deductible.
At Lawyers for Climate Action, we use the law to ensure effective climate action in Aotearoa. Our work relies on countless hours from volunteer lawyers and donations from you to support our growing work.
Starting this Tuesday, help us do more, faster, to protect the climate and ensure a better future for Aotearoa and our tamariki.
Together, we can:
✓ Hold the government and big polluters to account for climate inaction and greenwashing
✓ Advocate for laws and policies that enable New Zealand to effectively transition to a low-emissions future
✓ Provide free and reduced-cost legal help to community groups working to fight climate change
✓ Protect what makes New Zealand so special
This year has shown us - in so many ways - that there is no time to waste. Climate disasters like flooding here at home and hurricanes, wildfires and heatwaves the world-over continue to show us all that the climate crisis is here, and now.
But there’s reason for hope. The law is one of the most powerful tools in the response to the climate crisis. This year, we have:
Brought NZ’s first greenwashing case against Z Energy
Continued our important claim against the Climate Change Commission and Minister for Climate Change challenging the ambition and integrity of NZ’s climate targets
Secured public and community consultation on key climate decisions across Aotearoa
Mobilised at least $200,000 worth of volunteer hours for our advocacy
We can work together to ensure our legal system drives positive change - and we have big plans for 2025.
Thank you so much to our supporters for their generous donations.
