We are excited to be hiring a lawyer to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated, inquisitive, and passionate lawyer to use their legal skills and experience to make a meaningful difference to New Zealand’s climate response.
We’re looking for someone who:
cares about climate change and is excited by the opportunity to help Lawyers for Climate Action make a real difference in this area.
has a law degree and at least 1-2y PQE, preferably in litigation (i.e., as a judges’ clerk or in a litigation team at a law firm). We are also open to candidates with more experience, particularly if they want to join on a part-time basis.
has excellent oral and written communication skills.
is a team player but also a proactive self-starter, capable of working flexibly and rolling up their sleeves to do a variety of tasks. We’re a small and nimble team which means your work will be varied, and you need to be comfortable digging into a wide range of legal and climate-related matters.
is comfortable and keen to own and help shape the role to deliver maximum impact.
has strong problem-solving skills with a creative and innovative mindset, and is open to learning new things.
demonstrates a high standard of professional behaviours, including collaboration, honesty, and integrity.
shares our commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori in our work.
